3 hidden Hungarian beaches you must visit! – PHOTOS
The majority of Hungarian bathing waters have been given an excellent rating by authorities. This means that it is safe to swim in them! Follow our article for the best locations to dive at. You will not only skip the tourist-filled destinations but spare your wallet as well!
By this report from NNK (National Institute of Environmental Health), all bodies of water in the following list are safe to swim in.
For many years now, the settlements around Lake Balaton have been the most popular for domestic holidaymakers. Locals know this and are familiar with the extremely high prices. There are crowds of tourists gathering every year, who spend hours waiting at the beach. However, some prefer to go to quieter and cheaper holiday spots. Of course, these cannot compete with the Hungarian sea in beauty and atmosphere, but they do offer pleasant surprises for travellers.
Last year, of the 274 designated natural bathing sites, 165 natural bathing waters were rated excellent, 64 good, 6 tolerable and 4 unsatisfactory. Apart from our priority lakes for tourism – Lake Balaton, Lake Tisza, and Lake Velence – most of the natural bathing sites continue to be classified as excellent. Bathing sites around Hungary receive continuous monitoring, reports Pénzcentrum.
Before going to the beach, it is worth checking the NNK website above for a list of designated bathing sites. The site also details the annual bathing water quality and the results of the latest water tests. Information is also available on the websites of the metropolitan and county government offices and at the bathing sites.
